But 97 verses is but a drop in the bucket when you consider that the Bible is made up of 66 books, each containing chapters which contain a grand total of 31,174 verses! (according to James Montgomery Boice).
The Bible is like a mine of treasures, infinitely deep, always inviting the reader to a second chamber, after spending time in the first.
This was St. Augustine's reflection in writing to his son in A.D. 412:
"Such is the depth of the Christian Scriptures that even if I were attempting to study them and nothing else from early boyhood to decrepit old age, with the utmost leisure, the most unwearied zeal, and talents greater than I have, I would still daily be making progress in discovering their treasures."
So let the various Scriptures you savor on our dinnerware pieces encourage you to GO DEEPER into God's precious Word!
To help you on this journey of Bible discovery, we'll be introducing you to a specific method of Bible study called the "inductive" approach. It has special meaning for me, Karen, because my late father, Irving L. Jensen, spent most of his adult life writing books on the subject, while also teaching this method of independent Bible study to students at Bryan College.
As one of his students said, "This makes Bible study fun!" And it should be! Think of how David the psalmist felt about the Scriptures: "Oh, how I love your law!" (Psalm 119:97). May this help stir in you some of that holy excitement . . .
